Oil Mats On Pensacola Beach
All of the beach clean up crews have been working in the area right around the pier to make sure that the beach "looks clean" for the Deluna Fest this weekend according to a supervisor I spoke to from BP Contractor running beach clean up crews here on Pensacola Beach.
Meanwhile, I headed down into Fort Pickens today and took video and pictures of massive mats of oil and tar that if dug out with a shovel would probably be nearly as long as a football field and nearly as wide as well.
These kinds of deposits can be found along the entire length of the island from the Pensacola Pass in Fort Pickens, to the public beach of Pensacola Beach and all the way into Navarre Beach on the Eastern End of the island.
