Do not use cinnamon that is a spice, most spices have been irradiated are dead and do not work, go to a health food store and ask for organic cinnamon that has not been irradiated. G.

Spices from all over the world are protected by irradiation.
Spices are grown, processed and traded around the world. International trade exposes spices to harmful pests and diseases rendering products unfit for human consumption. Irradiation, the process of eliminating food pests and microorganisms with radiation, significantly reduces these risks.
Food Production Losses
As of 2003, around 25 percent of annual food production worldwide was lost after harvesting due to infestations of rodents, insects and bacteria. More than 40 countries sanctioned irradiation as the best option to protect and preserve approximately 60 different foods, including spices.
Safety Concerns
In 1980, Codex, an internationally recognized organization that promotes fair and healthy global food trade in the interest of consumer safety, concluded that irradiation posed no health threats. It determined that using chemicals and pesticides was more dangerous to food than irradiation.
Considerations
In 2000, 80,000 metric tons of spices alone were irradiated. In 2009, thirteen countries had cooperative food irradiation projects and the number is expected to significantly increase in the coming decades. As of 2010, food and spice irradiation has been used for more than 50 years.
