Are you about to turn 55 years of age? Then watch out, because according to the Brits, once you turn 55 healthy or not, you will be prescribed medication to lower your blood pressure and your cholesterol levels without having the levels tested to see if they are elevated in the first place. This will be done to save the government money did you really think they had your best interest at heart?

Dumbing Down of the Over 55's
Are you about to turn 55 years of age? Then watch out, because according to the Brit’s, once you turn 55 – healthy or not, you will be prescribed medication to lower your blood pressure and your cholesterol levels – without having the levels tested to see if they are elevated in the first place. This will be done to save the government money – did you really think they had your best interest at heart?
Professor Sir Nicholas Wald said prescribing cholesterol-busting statins and blood pressure pills based on age alone would be much easier and quicker than the current system. Patients would not be taking the drugs needlessly because almost everyone of a certain age could benefit from having lower blood pressure or cholesterol, no matter what level it is to begin with, Sir Nicholas said.
Now call me daft, but heck there are studies that prove older people with higher cholesterol levels live longer and have better brain function.
Let’s see: surprised to discover that older women with elevated cholesterol, actually lived longer.
And this one: Many studies have shown that old people with high cholesterol are healthier and live longer than people with low cholesterol. ...
Here's another one: Do people with high cholesterol live longer?
As to impaired brain function and low cholesterol, it does not take very long to find studies showing that our human brain NEEDS cholesterol to function properly.
Try this one: Persistently low cholesterol levels cause the brain to shrink......
This one is interesting: We need plenty of cholesterol in the brain to have all our serotonin machinery work properly. Low cholesterol is also associated with suicide......
And don’t miss this one: Low cholesterol levels have been linked with retarded mental ability, aggressive and violent behaviours.
OK so far we have established a couple of things.
There is a push to place all people over the age of 55 years into taking cholesterol lowering medication, which runs contrary to what is known about older people with higher cholesterol living longer lives with better brain function. To me this seems to be saying: ‘Let’s make them all sick, live shorter lives and bring on dementia.'
What do you think? Am I imagining this or is it as plain as the nose on your face when you look into the mirror?
Now let’s look at blood pressure… well if you go by the above clipping, they won’t be actually looking at your blood pressure at all. They will simply be prescribing Bp lowering medications to all who turn 55. Happy Birthday from the Government – here is your prescription whether you need it or not!
Modern physicians say normal blood pressure takes no account of age. A reading of 120mm/80mm is normal regardless, according to Mayo Clinic staff. But early 20th century blood pressure cuff users followed a "100-plus-age" rule of thumb to determine what was normal for age. Early 21st century doctors accepted increased "normal rates" as patient’s age, but within a much more limited range, according to the Mayo Clinic.
So now the question arises, just what is high blood pressure?
Despite accepting the 100 plus your age blood pressure reading in the past, today's medical textbooks are arguing over exact values and new blood pressure standards come out every few years placing the desirable blood pressure target values ever lower. Is medicine fueling this war or might it just be the multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical industry? To lower blood pressure readings just 5 points on the blood pressure scale can mean billions of dollars. Among the top ten drugs prescribed in the U.S, blood pressure (hypertension) medications ensnare millions into the prescription drug trap.
A former NASA astronaut and family doctor, says the 100+ age guideline for "normal" blood pressure was around for decades. He also wonders if modern views on what is normal blood pressure arise from drug company involvement. "In the 1970s, the target limit for initiating drug treatment was 160/95. This has now become 140/90 (and more recently, 115/75), with a large number of organizations listed as in agreement," he says.
Blood pressures tend to rise naturally with age in both men and women so that a 130 systolic blood pressure of a 30-year old (roughly 100 plus the age) becomes 150 in a fifty year old and 160 in a 60 year old with male blood pressure readings exceeding female by around 10 mm Hg. The systolic pressure is the pressure peak with each beat of the heart (systole) and the diastolic pressure is the basal pressure that is in the blood vessels during relaxation of the heart (diastole).
So here we have it folks..... To save time and money (who said ‘time is money’?) we are going to be openly treated as a statistic. Once "said statistic" attains the age of 55 years, they will be treated in a ‘one size fits all’ way, and persuaded to take lifelong drugs, ostensibly so that we will both live longer, and save the government time and money.
No mention of known ongoing side effects and mental deterioration... NONE whatsoever! Simply pop these pills and come back when your prescription needs refilling – goodbye!
Wake up people and see what is happening here. There is nothing even remotely kind or generous or healthy in all of this. No real life saving practise at all. Simply another way of making you drug dependent, while at the same time, ensuring the doctors and the drug companies are making BIG BUCKS at your expense.
"If you try to lower the cholesterol by taking medicine that is attacking the machinery of cholesterol synthesis in the liver, that medicine goes to the brain too. And then it reduces the synthesis of cholesterol which is necessary in the brain,"
In 1994, the American Heart Association issued a statement pointing out more deaths of trauma, hemorrhagic stroke, lung disease, cancer and infectious diseases to people with cholesterol levels less than 160 mg/dl.

LOOK OUT FOLKS we have the“This drug makes women stupid.” – Dr. Orli Etingin, vice chairman of medicine at New York Presbyterian Hospital, commenting on Lipitor at a recent luncheon discussion on women and the brain.
“dumbing down” of the over 55’s
about to happen.
